[RAR024] Waveform-Spring Melancholy EP

This is the perfect EP as we continue to make the transition from spring to summer. Deep melodic textures takes you through a wonderful spiritual journey, stimulating thoughts of nature and the beauty of everything that the great architech has put before us. The pads are deeply layered and the beats lay perfectly, hinting towards a Detroit-tribal vibe and sometimes leaning more closer to the neighboring deeper dubby-tech sound. Waveform is a very special artist; always bringing gems deriving from nature all fused with soulful tech sounds and rhythms. Close your eyes and let your spirit and soul take you to a better place. Enjoy!!!

With a strong focus on unique electronic sounddesign and structures, v/a - Vortex has turned into a solid collection of next level sonic wizardry.
All of the artists involved have dedicated an extremely respectable amount of time and dedication to sculpt their submission until it was perfect.
Could it be possible that 1 reason for this has to do with the fact that v/a - Vortex was a compilation that simply needed to be made?

In Memorian Andrey Tarkovsky

Musica Excentrica proud to present our new compiliation dedicated to most impressive film-directors of XX century - Andrey Tarkovsky.

In the entire history of cinema there has never been a director, who has made such a dramatic stand for the human spirit as he did. Today, when cinema seems to have drowned in a sea of glamorized triviality, when human relationships on screen have been reduced to sexual intrigue or sloppy sentimentality, and baseness rules the day - this man appears as a lone warrior standing in the midst of this cinematic catastrophe, holding up the banner for human spirituality. The Genius of modern Russian cinema - hailed by Ingmar Bergman as "the most important director of our time" - died an exile in Paris in December 1986.

After 22 years, passed from that year we decided to ask Kim Cascone, Astro, Violet, 833-45, Kenneth Kirschner, Astrowind, Pink Twins, Alva Noto, Nobukazu Takemura and Nikita Golyshev what do they think about Tarkovsky's phenomenon. This "musical answers" are now gathered in a big compiliation, and we invite everyone to explore it.

Alkor returns with the last release before the annual Kahvi Summer Break. Slightly different in style from his previous release on Kahvi, Small Suburban Heartbeats is a multi-textured, epic, ambient trip into the unknown.

With tracks like 'Finally falling..' building up the expectations and setting the scene for the rest of the ep, and the truly epic and curiously named `20701` being the track of choice, I think this release has something for those die hard ambient fans along with the melodic idm followers.

small suburban heartbeats is the perfect compliment to those hot dry summer months spent languishing in the sun. Enjoy the summer and see you again soon!

One of the most outlandish and experimental artists to feature on Kahvi returns with a small exerpt of his full length album 'Perserverance'.
Aleksi is, as I probably said before, verging on the genius with his out of tune, apparently random melodies, but yet.. they actually work quite well.
The tracks featured here are a small personally selected bunch of the more mellow and chilled tracks, still with the 'randomness', still with the completely original construction. Track of choice: Kiruna. Enjoy!

Hanne Adam seems to want to conseal the delicate and refined imagery found between the blank spaces of her music; we are treated to marveleous clicks and pops that travel meticulously in carefully constructed spirals and loops, in a clockwork fasion, but beneath this mechanical function, we find ourselves immersed in an organism that breathes in and out, increasingly elevating until the dichotomy reaches a certain unity. The result is a peacefull blend of melancholy and purposefullness and a search that , Adamned.age hints to us, will keep us contrived to our headphones and inspire us

Fresh Poulp : Guitoud - Analogic Time

It's summertime ! Long and sunny evenings, fresh beers, barbecues and #8230; what's better than dub to enlight these moments ? This 22nd release is from french born Guitoud, that present throught the spectrum of Electro-dub a subtile association of traditional inspirations and modern music, all these elements delayed and overdubbed in deep echos and #8230; Guitoud's downtempo signature is now linked with jama and #239;can music's strengh and unity. Twelve tasty tracks, like the steps of a clock, bring us for an ethnic-coloured trip with really aerial sounds and deep deep bass. A kind of barbecue-dub ??

The No More -music komite - project arise from the collaboration of F. Calderon with different artists and groups. Starting from the compiled material in many recording sessions, Calde gives us this [Miga26] "Folk Hero", which combines the very best of these collaborations in four pieces.

Warm double-basses, strings, voices and wind instruments give a rich shape to this creation, making it approachable to all kind of public. All this is completed with an excellent production, and a very particular looking which presents No More -music komite- as one of the most kicking newcomers from the andalusian scene.

Techno/Dub
Morelush mystery from Stig Inge , this German tech-producer second creation picks up very much where the debut but more on a darker danceable side.
Rhythmic in structure with deep bass grounded in dub, breaks and 4/4 beats of the modern electro-dance floor, calling old and #8217;80.The digital patterns and textures of club music are still detectable for those with sharp enough ears.
Hole EP carrying clear-cut recognizable artist sound and some minimalist, bubbling themes. Ominous but still beautiful; a minor distraction of darkling beetle, otherwise intriguing release.

zymogen: Jimmy Behan - In the Sudden Dista

Jimmy Behan released his debut album 'Days Are What We Live In' in 2004 before taking time out to study for a Masters in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College, where his thesis focused on the compositional possibilities of creative sampling techniques.
Currently, his work focuses on finding emotional connections between the physicality of sounds and their contexts. The physical characteristics of sounds (dynamics, texture and space) are explored via a range of processes before determining the emotional tone of a piece.
The 'In the Sudden Distance EP' attempts to capture that moment when the present suddenly becomes the past, rendering the passing of time as a sudden shift in perspective. Recorded around the time of a relocation to his home town after 16 years, it revolves around themes of change, memory and redemption.
With this concept work Jimmy brings Zymogen to a higher level in the exploration of electronic soundscapes.

Kahvi #250: Mikael Fyrek / A thousand...

years and one.
After previously releasing on Kahvi, Mikael Fyrek could be called 'a regular' - this ep, his fourth, is a classic example of the defining style of Mr Fyrek, good solid beats, a touch of elektro and a touch of Vangelis. An icey theme and perhaps even slightly disturbed state of mind can be seen from the track names, conveying intense emotions through music. A thoroughly enjoyable, intense, atmospheric and involving ep running at around thirty minutes 'A thousand years and one' is a great addition to the collective. Recommended track: My lips are turning blue.

Back with his promise; Twin Tower Connection is back to give us more abstract funk and as always he does it in fine fashion. Homegrown is more versitile than previous releases by T.T.C. The first three tracks are funky tech-house bombs that have heavy rolling basslines layered with dark shuffling melodies. The forth track "Kopfsache," is very experemental and is more influenced by breakbeat but fused very well with a nice minimal techno vibe. To bring things home, T.T.C. drops a nice head boppin' trip-hop track at the end. featuring some nice slick melodies with a smooth bassline to boot. Another great experimental release by T.T.C.
Vlad Makarov and Ilia Belorukov 'ANTITHESES'

The title I and #8217;ve chosen for the project ANTITHESES is an allusion, easy or hard, at the discretion of the preconceived potential listener, to eternal questions of New music to the conventional music.
Antitheses are not the ever ready answers, but the attempt to declare something especial, important. They are devoid of mockery of postmodernist discourse, they pretend to the serious position and to the determination of game rules.
Expressionism inherent in antitheses is natural for there is no need to ask questions in essence without sincerity and excitement.
My "prickly" violoncello gets on well with no less "prickly" saxophone of Ilya Belorukov. Though there are no revelations, for the improve ground is already too rammed for the last 20 years, but it and #8217;s the experience of teamwork that is important to us, representatives of different generations easily found a common language.
As a result we have obtained a quite tolerable product, fairly uncompromising, and even well spiced here and there by the traditions of free-jazz and new classics.

Kahvi #249: Craque / Material

Guest artist craque arrives on Kahvi.org with a unique blend of textures and IDM elements. Five track 'Material' verges on the style of 'MigloJE'. Torus Europa sets the scene with its lush, drawn out passages of sound and textures and leads into the interesting 'strawberry jam', an atonal melody drawing on a paced bass line which makes a nice combination and the extraordinary 'organum' (my personal favourite of this release) with 'that' sample hook that fits so well with the rest of the track. a great first release from craque, perhaps we`ll see more from him in the future?
